Xia Baolong visits Hengqin, stresses Macau and Hong Kong alignment with 15th Five-Year Plan

Xia Baolong, Beijing’s point man for the two SARs, conducted a four-day tour from Monday to Thursday in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone and Zhuhai.

Xia is the director of the Hong Kong and Macau Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council.

The visit aimed to support Hong Kong and Macau in proactively aligning with China’s national “15th Five-Year Plan”, deepening participation in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and better integrating into and serving the country’s overall strategic development, public broadcaster TDM reported.

Macau’s Chief Executive, Sam Hou Fai, and other top SAR officials took part in the official activities in Hengqin.

During the four-day visit, Xia toured multiple research and infrastructure locations, including the Macau International Airport’s Hengqin front cargo facility, the Guangdong Institute of Intelligent Science and Technology, the first phase of the Macau-Hengqin International Education (University) Town, and the Hengqin International Film Studio.

 mar26 One of Macau’s top priorities is to identify a new economic growth source, Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai has told a scientific and technological development committee. During the committee’s first plenary session of the year on Wednesday, Sam urged the city to cooperate with neighbouring Hengqin to contribute to the country’s pursuit of technological advancements.
