set25
Social Welfare Bureau has announced an additional payout for families on benefit, with this one-off initiative involving some MOP14.6 million (US$1.82 million).
About 2,600 households are due to receive their entitlements starting from 5 September.
The handouts range from MOP4,350 to MOP20,270, with the upper end of this range for a family of eight, and the threshold for one-member family.
According to the bureau, there are three sorts of financial support: general assistance, occasional assistance, as well as special assistance.
The occasional grant are provided to those whose financial situation worsens over abrupt incidents or special needs, including inability to pay funeral expenses, disasters, crisis childcare, and admission to establishments for the geriatric or the physically or mentally challenged.
The special grant goes to those single-parent families, people with disabilities, or families with chronically ill members, with the financial support covering education, caregiving, and disability-related needs.
